Struggling through Story, Cool Kids, and Finding Hope in Pain…a visit with Pepper Basham!

Posted in: Blog, podcast | February 7, 2022

Welcome to This is my Story! Today, we get to chat with one of the most talented and uplifting ladies I know…and she has the cutest giggle ever. Say hi to Pepper Basham!

On today’s show, Pepper and I talk about raising cool kids, learning to listen, and the pros and cons of traditional versus independent publishing. We chat about Appalachia, and Pepper’s early story inspiration: The Secret Garden, The Little Princess, Jane Eyre and all things British.

Also on the show…

Writing through grief, God speaking in story, being tested on what we write, snotting through sad scenes, and legalistic kids.

I really enjoyed this interview with Pepper. When her brother was missing, I was visiting my parents, who live about ten minutes from where he was hiking. I followed along with their walk through that very hard time and was so encouraged by their strong faith. My mother was going through chemo at that time and died two months later. Pepper’s encouraging words and attitude were such an inspiration. And I read my first book by her last December. The Mistletoe Countess is fabulous and is now one of my favorite reads! Thank you ladies for such an informative and uplifting conversation.
